Sfinj Filled with Oreo-Cheese Cream
Sfinj Filled with Oreo-Cheese Cream
Yield: 20 -25 sfinj
Prep time: 40 minutes
Level: Medium
Ingredients:
Dough:
1 pound flour
1 tablespoon dry yeast
4 tablespoons sugar
1 2/3 cups warm water
2 tablespoons brandy or whisky
½ teaspoon salt
Oil for deep frying
Filling:
1 container Tnuva Premium Cheese Spread, Original Flavor
2 tablespoons vanilla sugar
4 Oreo cookies, crushed
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
Powdered sugar for sprinkling
Instructions:
1. Put all dough ingredients in a mixer bowl and knead with dough hook for about 5 minutes, until dough is smooth and sticky. Cover with plastic and let rise for about an hour until double in bulk.
2. Punch down dough, then cover and let rise again until double in bulk. (Skip this step if you’re in a hurry, but we recommend it for fluffier doughnuts.)
3. Heat oil in a pot. Prepare a bowl of water to wet your hands as necessary. Working quickly, pinch off a piece of dough the size of an ice-cream scoop. Stretch the dough and form a hole in the middle, about 1” in diameter. Drop into the hot oil and fry for about 2 minutes on each side until golden. Drain on absorbent paper.
4. Combine filling ingredients and put in a pastry bag. Slice the cooled sfinj in half. Pipe a thick layer of cream on the bottom half, then cover with the top half. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
