Yield: 2-3 servings

Prep Time: 40 minutes

Level: Medium

Ingredients:

1 cup water
¾ cup sugar
4 cardamom pods (optional)
5 ounces dark chocolate
1 ¼ containers Tnuva Premium Cheese Spread, Original Flavor

20 ounces kadaif noodles
4 ounces butter, melted (you might need a little more, depending on the noodles)
1 ounce butter for frying
¼ cup roasted chopped pistachio nuts

Instructions:

1. Prepare the syrup: Put the water and sugar and cardamom if using in a small saucepan. Over medium heat, stir until the sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil and cook for another 2 minutes, then remove the cardamom.
2. Melt the chocolate in a microwave. Add the cheese and stir until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, heat for another couple of seconds in the microwave.
3. In a large bowl, combine the kadaif noodles with the melted butter. Mix until all the noodles are coated in butter.
4. Put a 10” non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Melt about half an ounce of the butter for frying, and place half the noodles on top. Gently press down all around. Fry for about 3 minutes until the bottom has formed a crust.
5. Gently spread the chocolate mixture on top, being careful not to break the crust. Place the rest of the noodles on top and press down.
6. Fry for another 5 minutes, then quickly turn over the kanafeh onto a serving plate. Return the frying pan to the heat and add the rest of the butter.
7. Transfer the kanafe back to the frying pan and fry the other side for 5-8 minutes, until the crust is nice and brown. Pour the syrup on top and cook for another 2 minutes.
8. Sprinkle the chopped pistachio nuts on top and serve immediately.
